Surf in Bondi Beach or Byron Bay
Bondi is a perfect crescent with squeaky white sand and rolling waves, well deserving of its reputation as the world’s best urban beach. Sure you can lounge with the rest of the sun-worshippers on Australia’s most famous beach, your you can get active and pop into Lets Go Surfing to hire a surfboard for a couple hours. If you’ve never surfed, why not book a lesson with a friendly instructor? Getting up on a board for the first time at Bondi Beach is an achievement and thrill you’ll never forget. Alternatively and possibly even more iconic, grab a surfboard (and friendly instructor) as you learn to surf on the famous beaches of Byron Bay. People of all ages and abilities are obsessed with surfing, and Bondi Beach and Byron Bay are the two best places in the country to learn how to join them.

Note from Robin :
All you need to bring along is your swimwear and towel. Let's Go Surfing provide all equipment (wetsuit, surfboard, sunscreen and zinc) and their instructors are ego-free and supremely patient! Their oldest client was 93, so don't let age hold you back. Ultimately, it's about being in the ocean, soaked in nature, and enjoying the rhythm of the seas. Forget all the bleached hair, slang and culture bit, and just enjoy having fun in the waves.
