Hear the Devils Grunt

Devils @ Cradle Mountain

{0 Comments}

Located within Cradle Mountain National Park, the Devils @ Cradle sanctuary is part of the nationwide Captive Breeding Program, established to create an insurance population of devils in light of the tragic facial tumours threatening the species. The facility offers various programs, including the opportunity to enjoy a dinner, or watch the devils feed after dark, when they are more active. Programs teach you all about Australia’s largest marsupial carnivore, and watching them grunt, snort and feast is quite an experience.

Note from Robin :
You can encounter devils around the country, but they’re Tasmanian creatures, and Devils@Cradle is the best place to see and learn about them. I was expecting more of a smell, given their reputation for skunkiness, although their grunts are pretty fierce. The facility is also a great opportunity to learn more about and encounter the quoll, Australia's apex marsupial predator.
